Georgia 4-H Club Foundation Access to Higher Education Southern Zone (Choose different project.)The Georgia 4-H Foundation is honored to be awarded the State Farm Youth Advisory Board Grant at the $25,000 level for the Georgia 4-H Youth Technology Leadership Team’s Cyber Security Initiative. CSI will partner the “Need-A-Computer” project with Cyber Education classes - including internet and social networking safety and cyberbullying prevention - for underserved youth and families located in communities throughout Georgia.
The CSI Initiative will work with underserved youth to give them an opportunity to own a home computer and learn basic technology operations. It will help close the achievement gap for many youth. Together State Farm and Georgia 4-H will help underserved youth and families reach their dreams of higher education by giving them the tools to gain access to more opportunities.
Over 60% of today’s jobs require knowledge of technology operations, and Georgia is a high need area with 91 of our 159 counties declared in persistent poverty. We feel that this grant opportunity will allow many youth and families a new start to reaching their dreams for the future!
The Georgia 4-H Youth Technology Leadership Team consists of twenty-two
4-H'ers from across the state, six collegiate advisors, five adult volunteers, and Extension 4-H Specialist, Cheryl Varnadoe. Congratulations to the Georgia 4-H Youth Technology Leadership Team and the Georgia 4-H Foundation on the receipt of this grant.
