Allen Park held an extremely successful Professional Interview Day when the city's high school juniors had a mock interview experience with over 60 business people, entrepreneurs, and politicians. Students received invaluable expertise, and even received job offers.

A recently-completed pilot project matched up 8th graders with 11th graders and spent a morning at the high school. As the process begins of selecting students to participate in an on-line college course through Baker College next year, Allen Park continues to look for new ways to close the achievement gap that has stricken their area.

Over 40 students signed up to take such courses as Intro to Business, Intro to Health Care, Personal Finance and Intro to Marketing. There are many touching stories to tell about students who don't normally get the opportunity for an "early college" class.
